Jerry Jones Is Willing To Do Everything Required To Succeed Cowboys This Season

Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, has made a strong statement on the past, and Ezekiel Elliott may still decide to rejoin the team in the off-season.

Elliott is a player that Cowboys supporters hold in high regard, but his tenure with the team did not finish as many had anticipated.

After the NFL annual meeting ended and the Cowboys owner, general manager, and voice from above informed reporters that the quarterback Dak Prescott’s contract situation is as it is for the 2024 season and that there might or might not be further movement on it, that’s the message that everyone should be taking away.

“We have our contract, we’re locked and loaded for this year,” Jones told a mini-gaggle of reporters on Monday. “We can see as we move along how we are thinking, inclusive of everybody, including Dak. We’ll see what we do. I don’t have anything to report today.”

2019 saw Jones and the Cowboys decide to give Elliott a huge new deal for 90 million dollars, which would pay Elliott for the next six years, in recognition of his excellent play.

At the time, he was the highest-paid running back in NFL history, although Christian McCaffrey of the San Francisco 49ers has since surpassed him in that regard.

Jones has now made the decision to discuss the rationale behind that agreement and if he would fall victim to the same trap in the future.

Speaking at the NFL owner’s meeting in Orlando, Jones said: “What I can do for our fans is I can learn from what we did with Zeke. I can learn. I can look back and make that comparison. And I’m more likely to learn from that than some new face. I really am. I believe that – as long as I do my homework and got my energy.”

To elaborate, NFL Media said on Tuesday that Prescott is participating in the current season under the terms of his contract. Clearly. Not extending.

Which is odd because clubs typically extend the contracts of their starting quarterbacks before they expire in order to provide security and prevent the customary cost rise associated with deals inked later rather than sooner. Prescott is in the last year of his contract.

Prescott is 7-7 in the postseason since taking over as the starter in 2016 and has never attended an NFC Championship game.

After taking charge in 2020, McCarthy’s team missed the playoffs that year. The Cowboys have made it to the postseason the previous three years, but they have lost three straight seasons—in the division round in 2022, the wild card round in 2021, and the heartbreaking upset defeat to the Green Bay Packers in the wild card round last season.

Jones must consider this to be an underachievement in certain ways. Furthermore, considering his current contract-related actions, he believes it is not worth repeating.

How many rings does Jerry Jones have?

The Cowboys won three Super Bowls under Jones’ leadership: XXVII, XXVIII, and XXX. The Cowboys made it to the postseason in 2016, 2018, 2021, 2022, and 2023, giving them eighteen postseason appearances throughout the Jones era, demonstrating their unwavering devotion to winning.

Who owned Cowboys before Jerry Jones?

The Cowboys were sold to Jerry Jones in 1989 by H. R. “Bum” Bright, who had acquired the franchise from Murchison in 1984.
